Experience Prior to Law School

I grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Villanova University in 2007 and began my career in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) where I care for critically ill infants and their families. I continued to work at CHOP and attended Temple as an evening student. I am grateful that Temple offered a flexible evening program that allowed me to simultaneously pursue my professional career.

Clinical Experience

I loved Temple’s Integrated Trial Advocacy Program (ITAP), which provided a practical overview of day-to-day litigation, from the filing of a complaint to closing arguments at trial. During law school, I worked as a law clerk in the litigation department at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, P.C. The ITAP program gave me an introduction to the court pleadings and proceedings that I would see at the firm.

How I Will Use My J.D.

I applied to law school because I aspired to work as a risk manager at a hospital. At Temple, I learned about the wealth of opportunities for health care lawyers in the fields of litigation, regulation, and compliance that would draw upon my professional background as a registered nurse. After graduation, I will work at Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney, P.C., where my practice will primarily focus on regulatory matters. In August, I will take a one year leave of absence to clerk for a federal judge for the 2014 term.

What about Temple Law will you carry with you as you leave to pursue your career?

Temple Law taught me to question the norm, strive for excellence, and embrace change. I will cling to those values as I move forward in my legal career.

What I Wish I Knew Before Attending Temple Law

At Temple, I was a little surprised to learn that in order to be an effective lawyer, you need to see logical connections that other people miss. The combination of clinical and academic courses at Temple taught me how to do that.

Temple Made

“Temple Made” is more of a mission than a title. To me, Temple Made means working hard, gaining practical experience, and continually striving to do better. Thankfully, the mission is collective. I am lucky to work with Temple Made attorneys who will continue to mentor me throughout my legal career.
