Temple Law students use laptop computers for classes, exams, and homework. Laptop computers are a valuable tool in law school and we strongly recommend that each law student have a new or recent laptop computer for use during their law school career. The following recommendations account for services and applications often used in conjunction with Temple Law School classes, as well as in other curricular and extra-curricular activities.

If you already own a laptop, please check to be sure that it meets the requirements above. In particular, it is important that you have a camera and microphone/headset to be able to participate in any online class sessions. Please note that Examplify supports only genuine versions of Windows Operating Systems and MAC OS.

If you can’t afford a computer that meets the requirements, students are able to use student loans to purchase a laptop. Please contact the Law School Office of Financial Aid for more information.

Temple University hosts an on-campus technology store OWLTech to service Temple students, faculty, staff, alumni and hospital employees. The team at OWLtech store helps Temple Owls find and purchase the right technology solutions for their academic, professional and personal endeavors.

Internet Connectivity

We strongly recommend a reliable, continuous internet connection with a minimum speed of 20 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.  This exceeds the minimum requirements for synchronous Zoom sessions, but good internet connectivity is critical for a good online learning experience.

Software

Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite are available for all law students to download for free and use while they are enrolled at Temple University. Instructions for downloading and installing University-licensed software can be found in TU Portal.
