Applicants Seeking to Transfer to Temple Law School

Temple Law School welcomes applications for transfer admission from current students at ABA approved law schools which are also members of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS).

Applicants must have completed their first year of law school and their class rank and transcript at the end of the first year must be available before the Faculty Admissions Committee can consider a transfer application. For this reason, transfer decisions are typically not made until late June or early July when a full year of first year grades are available.

If admitted as a transfer student, we will review your current law school transcript and will notify you which of the courses you have taken and the number of credits which will transfer to Temple Law School.  Only first-year course work (a maximum of 32 credits) is accepted for purposes of granting advanced standing to transfer applicants.

The following documents must be submitted by each applicant for admission as a transfer student by the June 15th application deadline:

  • Completed application form and $65 application fee;
  • Personal statement outlining the reasons for applying to transfer to Temple Law School;
  • A letter from the applicant’s current school certifying that the applicant has completed the first year, is in good standing, and is eligible to continue at that law school;
  • The applicant’s class rank at the end of the first year of law school;
  • An official transcript from the applicant’s current law school showing grades for all completed courses;
  • A Credential Assembly Report (CAS). The CAS Report may be sent to Temple Law School from LSAC, or the applicant may have a copy of the first page of the CAS Report sent to Temple from their current law school. A copy of the CAS Report may already be on file with the Admissions Office if the applicant has previously applied to Temple Law for admission as a first-year student.
