Admissions Merit Scholarships
The Admissions Committee considers all admitted students for merit-based scholarships at the time of their admission to the law school. Merit-based scholarship awards are included with the admission notification. No application is required to be considered for an admissions merit scholarship.
Merit scholarships are applied to tuition charges for Temple Law School courses taken during the fall and spring semesters of the academic year and cannot be used to cover tuition charges for summer courses. Scholarship amounts are subject to adjustment if a student’s residency, program, or enrollment status changes.
Students who receive an admissions merit scholarship may use the scholarship funds to pay tuition, room and board, or other educational costs. Merit scholarship awards are included as part of a student’s financial aid package, however recipients are not required to submit a FAFSA or other financial aid application in order to receive the funds.
Temple Law School does not award scholarships that may be reduced or eliminated based on law school academic performance other than failure to maintain good standing.
Merit Based Scholarships
Beasley Scholarships
Established in 1999 by James E. Beasley, ’56, the Beasley Scholars program provides full and partial renewable tuition scholarships to entering students. Beasley Scholars are selected by the Admissions Committee on the basis of academic excellence.
Conwell Scholarships
Named in honor of Russell Conwell, the founder of Temple University, these partial tuition scholarships are awarded to incoming students selected by the Admissions Committee based on outstanding performance records.
Need-based Grants
Law School Grants are offered to incoming first year students with demonstrated need and funds are applied directly to the recipient’s tuition account. These grants are offered only to applicants with the highest financial need and recipients must borrow at least $8,500 in a Direct Federal Unsubsidized loan in order to be eligible for a Law School Grant. Students who receive a full-tuition scholarship are not eligible for the Law School Grant.
