On Friday, May 27th, Temple hosted a networking event for law firm partners in Rome. Alessio Sangiorgi from Lana, Lagostena, Bassi & Rosi; Enrico Petrucci and Francesca Petrucci from Petrucci & Petrucci; and Davide Lodi and Andrea Spadoni from NL & Partners attended the event to discuss their practice areas and meet Temple Rome students. The hosts, Temple Rome Dean Emilia Zankina and Associate Director Barbara Caen, thanked the participants for their many years of support and partnership in providing student internships at their firms.
Assistant Dean for Graduate & International Programs John Smagula echoed these thanks, adding that their support allows Temple to explore new ways to strengthen collaboration, both for internships as well as for international legal training. In addition to the networking event attendees, Temple Rome program’s lasting professional relationships with Italian law firm partners, including Carmine Gravina from Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle; Gianluca Meranda from Meranda Avvocati; Elena Ciancio from the ADR Center, Marta Bordignon from Human Rights International Corner; and Sara Gorelli from L’Osservatorio, Research Center on Civilian Victims of Conflicts, provide a rich variety of areas of expertise for participating students to experience.
“We’re tremendously grateful to our law firm and legal organization partners,” said Smagula. “We look forward to many years of future cooperation!” During the event, J.D. student Simone Henderson LAW ’24 shared her experience as a Temple Law student, noting that Temple’s international opportunities have enriched her legal education and career trajectory.
Attorneys who participate Temple Law’s summer in Rome program experience U.S.-style legal education, study U.S. and international law, and network with American law faculty and students. The academic credit earned through this program can be later applied to a Master of Laws degree if attorneys wish to continue their studies.
