John Culhane is Professor of Law, the H. Albert Young Fellow in Constitutional Law, and the Co-Director of the Family Health Law & Policy Institute at Delaware Law School (Widener University). He is a visiting professor at Temple University Beasley School of Law.
Professor Culhane teaches in the areas of Torts, Family Law, Constitutional Law, and Public Health Law. He is a three-time winner of the Outstanding Faculty Member award at Delaware Law School. His scholarship covers a wide area, including various issues in tort law, family law, First Amendment, and public health law. He has also written extensively on LGBTQ+ legal issues, and has published more than 40 scholarly books and articles.
He regularly appears in print and electronic media as a legal expert on these issues. He has been featured on MSNBC, NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered, MarketPlace, Radio Times, and Voice of America, and his work has appeared in the New York Times, Dissent Magazine, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Wall Street Journal, and the feature documentary film, American Betrayed, among many other places. He lives in Philadelphia with his husband and his teenaged twin daughters — and with Bailey, the dog.
