Benjamin Haas is a tax attorney and the Director of Federal Tax Planning & Policy for Exelon Corporation. Mr. Haas is responsible for general transactional tax matters including acquisitions, dispositions, internal restructurings, federal tax legislative and administrative matters, as well as the federal tax audit and appeals function. Mr. Haas leads strategic tax planning initiatives for Exelon Corporation and its subsidiaries and serves as Exelon’s in-house tax counsel. Mr. Haas is the co-founder and is the co-chair of Exelon’s internal tax technical review committee, which ensures quality control for all significant tax positions taken by Exelon and its subsidiaries.
Mr. Haas is the Co-Chair of the Tax and Accounting Section of the Infrastructure and Regulated Industries Section of the American Bar Association, as well as a member of the American Bar Association Taxation Section. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Taxation Section, the Tax Executive Institute’s Philadelphia Chapter, and the American Association of Corporate Counsel. He has written several articles on tax related matters and has lectured on tax matters for the Infrastructure and Regulated Industries Section of the American Bar Association, the Tax Section of the American Bar Association, Practicing Law Institute, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Edison Electric Institute, and The Energy Tax Council. He is also a former adjunct professor of law and current guest lecturer in the Graduate Tax Program of Villanova University School of Law.
Before joining Exelon, Mr. Haas practiced as a tax attorney with Morgan Lewis & Bockius, LLP and Pepper Hamilton, LLP, both in Philadelphia, PA. He earned his B.A. degree in Economics from Temple University, and his J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation degrees from Villanova University School of Law.
