The program is an interdisciplinary educational experience for accounting and<\/em>financial professionals; classes can be taken both in-person and online<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 9, 2020 <\/strong>\u2014 The tax law is constantly changing and ever more complex, and the stakes for businesses and individuals are significant. To succeed, accounting and tax professionals need a firm understanding of the law and sophisticated problem-solving and communication skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s where Temple University Beasley School of Law and Fox School of Business can help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To better prepare accounting and finance professionals, Temple Law and Fox Business schools  have partnered to launch the Master of Science in Taxation (MST) program. The program combines the Law School\u2019s expertise in educating lawyers in tax law and legal analysis, cultivated over the 50-year history of the Graduate Tax Program, with the Fox School\u2019s business, accounting, taxation and experiential learning acumen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor both schools, this is just a natural partnership,\u201d says Ron Anderson, dean of the Fox School. \u201cThe Law School has a demonstrated history of teaching tax law exceptionally well through its graduate program. Now, they\u2019re able to build upon that by tapping into the resources of our Accounting Program, its faculty members and their various areas of expertise. It\u2019s a win-win for everyone, but especially for the students, who will be more prepared than ever to succeed in the fields of accounting, taxation, and tax law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 30-credit program is both comprehensive and convenient and has been developed for experienced tax professionals with at least two years of tax experience. It covers traditional tax topics and cutting-edge subjects such as data analytics, providing students with the knowledge needed to ensure they\u2019re set up for success, both now and well into the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MST program has concentrations in business and international tax law, estate and gift tax law, employee benefits tax law and additional concentrations are being developed. In total, the program includes more than 30 tax courses that students can choose from as electives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students also have the option to take courses in person or online and have the ability to switch between onsite and online attendance as their schedule allows. Those who do prefer an in-classroom experience have the option of taking classes offered at Temple\u2019s Main Campus on North Broad Street or at the Temple University Center City campus, located just across the street from City Hall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mandel, dean of Temple Law. \u201cThe Fox School\u2019s innovative teaching methods and emphasis on practical application blend well with the education students receive at the Law School. We look forward to adding students to our community who have rich perspectives based on their professional experience. The MST program will allow those professionals to benefit from the collective support and guidance from both schools, learn from tax law and business experts, and bring that momentum to their careers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
