{"id":1576,"date":"2022-02-24T20:41:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-24T20:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ilit\/?p=1576"},"modified":"2022-05-24T20:43:50","modified_gmt":"2022-05-24T20:43:50","slug":"new-research-project-profiling-the-digital-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ilit\/new-research-project-profiling-the-digital-state\/","title":{"rendered":"New Research Project: Profiling the Digital State"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>iLIT is partnering with Stanford\u2019s Digital Civil Society Lab and Cornell\u2019s Citizens and Technology (CAT) Lab in a research agenda that looks at the practices and implications of digitizing\/datafying state institutions and functions, on a global scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project examines the role and governance of capital investment in products that carry digitization forward based on a fundamental set of assumptions about the utility, value and nature of data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first phase of the project will engage students in qualitative research including network analysis and interviews with industry actors, focused on how public sector \u201cproblems\u201d come to be identified as attractive for digital solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will also be examining the content and efficacy of data protection and human rights compliance frameworks applicable in such use cases. iLIT Director Laura Bingham will be pursuing this research with Elizabeth Eagen, Deputy Director of CAT Lab, through a Digital Civil Society practitioner fellowship <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pacscenter.stanford.edu\/person\/laura-bingham\/\">https:\/\/pacscenter.stanford.edu\/person\/laura-bingham\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>iLIT is partnering with Stanford\u2019s Digital Civil Society Lab and Cornell\u2019s Citizens and Technology (CAT) Lab in a research&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_kad_post_transparent":"","_kad_post_title":"","_kad_post_layout":"","_kad_post_sidebar_id":"","_kad_post_content_style":"","_kad_post_vertical_padding":"","_kad_post_feature":"","_kad_post_feature_position":"","_kad_post_header":false,"_kad_post_footer":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[38,42,33,43],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1576","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-collaboration","category-digital-surveillance","category-newsroom","category-students"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
