Prior to joining Temple University Beasley School of Law, Professor Purvis was a professor at Penn State Law and visiting assistant professor at the University of Illinois College of Law. A former editor-in-chief of the Yale Law Journal, she clerked for The Hon. Gerard E. Lynch, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and The Hon. Raymond C. Fisher, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. 

Before entering academia, Professor Little practiced law in Philadelphia, litigating commercial cases and representing the print media in First Amendment cases. Prior to her law practice, Professor Little served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, Supreme Court of the United States (October Term 1986) and Judge James Hunter III of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit (1985-1986).

Professor Little has several times taught in Temple’s programs in Tokyo, Japan and Rome, Italy. She has served as a visiting professor at University of Sydney (Australia), and University College of Cork (Ireland). She has also lectured frequently throughout China.

Professor Little’s scholarship has strong interdisciplinary character, integrating law, social science and humanities. She has travelled internationally lecturing on law and humor, and has written several studies on how legal doctrines regulate various forms of comedy. Spiro has held fellowships at the European University Institute, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Open Society Institute. In the fall 2018, Spiro was the William and Patricia Kleh Visiting Professor in International Law at Boston University Law School. He has also held visiting appointments and residencies at the University of Texas, the Australian National University, the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, and Sungkyunkwan University. Spiro is a member of the International Mobility Treaty Commission and the Investment Migration Council, and a former member of the U.S. Department of State’s Historical Advisory Committee. He has delivered recent keynote lectures at the University of Sydney, Erasmus University, and Princeton University. In 2016, he co-organized a workshop on global migration law at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Study Center. In 2007 and 2016 surveys, Professor Spiro ranked in the top 25 nationally among international law scholars on the basis of academic citation frequency.

In addition to his 1990-91 Supreme Court clerkship, Spiro served as a law clerk to Judge Stephen F. Williams of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. He has also served as director for democracy on the staff of the National Security Council, as an attorney-adviser in the U.S. Department of State’s Office of the Legal Adviser and as a resident associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Spiro holds a B.A. from Harvard College and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Dunoff has served as a Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School, Law and Public Affairs Fellow and Visiting Professor at Princeton University’s School for Public and International Affairs, a Professeur Invité, Faculté de Droit at the Université de Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne), Visiting Professor at the University of Rome (La Sapienza), Fernand Braudel Senior Fellow at the European University Institute, Senior Fellow at Humboldt University, Visiting Professor at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Visiting Professor at Central European University, and as a Visiting Fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law at Cambridge University. Among other activities, he serves on the editorial board of the American Journal of International Law, as an elected member of the American Law Institute, and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

Professor Dunoff’s publications include International Legal Theory: Foundations and Frontiers (coeditor, with Mark A. Pollack, Cambridge University Press 2022), Interdisciplinary Perspectives on International Law and International Relations : The State of the Art (coeditor, with Mark A. Pollack, Cambridge University Press 2013); Ruling the World? Constitutionalism, International Law, and Global Governance (coeditor, with Joel P. Trachtman, Cambridge University Press 2009); and International Law: Norms, Actors, Process (with Monica Hakimi and Steven Ratner, Wolters Kluwer 2025), a leading textbook. Among other scholarly activities, he serves on the Academic Advisory Board of the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law, and as a general editor of the Journal of International Dispute Settlement.

Before joining the Temple faculty, Professor Dunoff clerked for a federal court judge and practiced law in Washington, D.C., where he specialized in the representation of developing state governments in international and domestic litigations and arbitrations. Professor Dunoff received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Haverford College; his J.D., cum laude, from NYU School of Law; and his LL.M., with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he has served as a Ford Foundation Fellow in Public International Law and received the Thomas Chetwood Prize for distinguished academic performance.
