ABOUT HONORABLE DANIEL J. ANDERS 

Judge Daniel J. Anders

Judge Daniel J. Anders has served on the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia since 2007. Judge Anders currently serves as the Administrative Judge of the Trial Division of the First Judicial District where he leads a team of more than 60 judges who are assigned to the Criminal and Civil divisions. Those Judges are responsible for managing and disposing of all criminal and civil actions filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County.

Judge Anders also continues to serve as the Supervising Judge of the Civil Division where his team of nearly 30 trial judges manage and dispose of all civil cases including mass torts, major jury, arbitration appeals and non-jury and matters. As Supervising Judge, he successfully eliminated the backlog of civil cases created by the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing innovative case management protocols as well as safely restarting civil jury trials in March 2021 after a 1 year pause in jury trials due to the pandemic.
