IP Philly 2026, in partnership with Temple University Beasley School of Law, will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. 

This third annual full day, in-person program is a “must-attend” event for any attorney who faces IP issues. This event provides a comprehensive overview of recent trends, developments, and cutting-edge issues in today’s intellectual property practice. The Honorable Mitchell S. Goldberg

Former United States District Judge, Eastern District of Pennsylvania
Senior Counsel, Blank Rome

Judge Goldberg, now Sr. Counsel at Blank Rome LLP, was appointed to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on October 31, 2008and became Chief Judge in March of 2024.He had previously served on the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas. Judge Goldberg’s career as a practicing attorney started at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office where he worked in both the trial and appellate divisions. He later joined the law firm of Cozen O’Connor, where his practice focused on commercial litigation. Judge Goldberg was eventually promoted to senior partner, and also served as the manager of Cozen’s Arson and Fraud Unit. Judge Goldberg returned to the public sector in1997, serving as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania where he handled mostly white collar crime cases, both before the District Court and the United Stated Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Judge Goldberg isa graduate of Temple Law School (1986) where he was a member of Temple’s first trial team. He presently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Temple Law teaching federal law and civil/criminal advanced trial advocacy. Judge Goldberg has handled over one hundred patent cases as a visiting judge in the District of Delaware.

The Honorable Catherine Henry

United States District Court Judge, Eastern District of Pennsylvania

Judge Catherine Henry took the oath of office as a United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on December 12, 2024, following nearly three decades of distinguished service as a career public defender. She brings to the bench a depth of professional experience, including civil and criminal constitutional advocacy. A proud graduate of Drew University and the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, Judge Henry began her career advancing gender equality as a staff attorney at the Feminist Majority Foundation. She then arrived in Philadelphia to begin three decades defending indigent clients, first at the Defender Association of Philadelphia and later at the Federal Community Defender Office. Over her 24years in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, she litigated many complex criminal cases, including over 30 trials to verdict. Since 2008, she was the office’s Senior Litigator, a role in which she continued trial practice while also mentoring junior attorneys and leading training in trial advocacy, sentencing strategy, and federal criminal procedure. Judge Henry’s service extends beyond the courtroom. She taught Trial Advocacy at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and Temple University Beasley School of Law, and she served as an instructor in Temple’s LL.M. program and federal criminal clinic. Nationally recognized for her legal insight, she regularly trained federal defenders and Criminal Justice Act attorneys, and she was appointed Chair of the Public Defenders Committee of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2023. She served as the volunteer Defender representative for the STAR Program, a reentry initiative aiding formerly incarcerated individuals in their return to society—a role that reflects her enduring commitment to justice with compassion.

The Honorable John F. Murphy

United States District Court Judge, Eastern District of Pennsylvania

John F. Murphy is a Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.  He has also served as a visiting judge in patent cases with the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the District of Delaware, and the District of New Jersey.  Before being appointed to the court in 2022, Judge Murphy was an IP litigation partner at BakerHostetler in Philadelphia, where he focused on patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and other intellectual property disputes.  He teaches patent litigation and strategy as an adjunct professor at Villanova Law School and Rutgers Law School.  Judge Murphy is co-author of the sixth edition of Patent Litigation and Strategy (West 2025) along with Federal Circuit Chief Judge Kimberly A. Moore, Professor Timothy Holbrook, and Andrew Sommer.  Judge Murphy also clerked for Chief Judge Moore.  He attended Harvard Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology.  Before that, he obtained a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Caltech and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University.

The Honorable Joshua D. Wolson

United States District Court Judge, Eastern District of Pennsylvania

Judge Wolson was nominated to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in May 2018.  He was renominated in May 2019, confirmed by the Senate on May 2, 2019, and received his commission on May 28, 2019.  Judge Wolson earned his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.  After graduating from law school, he served as a law clerk for Hon. Jan E. DuBois of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.  He then maintained a commercial litigation practice, including antitrust, RICO, intellectual property, class action, First Amendment, and commercial contract disputes, first as an associate with Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C., and then as a partner with Dilworth Paxson in Philadelphia.

Alexis Arena

Deputy General Counsel, Comcast

Alexis Arena is Deputy General Counsel at Comcast, where she focuses on trademarks, copyrights, rights of publicity, and emerging issues involving AI. She brings over two decades of experience in intellectual property counseling and litigation, including prior experience as a partner at Flaster/Greenberg, where she served as a first-chair litigator in complex trademark and copyright matters in Federal court, managed global IP portfolios, and handled UDRP and TTAB proceedings. At Comcast, she oversees the management of Comcast’s global trademark portfolio and provides advice and counsel on a wide variety of matters involving trademarks, copyrights, and the intersection of intellectual property and AI.

Karen Bernstein

Karen J. Bernstein is the Principal of Bernstein IP, a trademark, copyright, and Internet law firm based in Manhattan. Laura A. Genovese

Laura A. Genovese co-founded K & G Law LLC to focus on her experience in copyright and trademark law. She is a trusted counselor and advocate for the firm’s clients, which range from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies. In those roles, she develops and helps implement and manage strategic IP protection plans, counsels clients in adversarial matters, and represents them when necessary in litigation before the courts and in inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and domain name panels. Lesley Grossberg

Lesley Grossberg is a partner in Ice Miller’s Philadelphia office, where she leads the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. John Hillman

Kenneth A. Jacobsen

Professor Kenneth A. Jacobsen is a Practice Professor of Law at Temple University Beasley School of Law and Director of its Sports Law Program, where he teaches amateur, professional, and international sports law as well as advanced sports contract negotiation. A nationally recognized expert in name, image, and likeness (NIL) issues in college athletics, he has organized and spoken on numerous panels for the ABA and Philadelphia Bar Association and led the Temple Law Review’s 2024 Symposium on college athletics. He is a frequent lecturer in the U.S. and abroad and provides expert analysis to major media outlets. Beyond academia, Jacobsen is an entrepreneur and co-owner of the Wilmington Blue Rocks, and he has advised professional athletes—including Julius “Dr. J” Erving, Michael Vick, and Shane Victorino—on sponsorship, marketing, and philanthropic initiatives, as well as supporting social justice efforts through organizations such as the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation and the Players Coalition.

Anna Johnson

Anna Johnson represents clients in intellectual property disputes at the trial and appellate levels, primarily in the areas of patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation. Kimberly C. Kelleher

Acting Deputy General Counsel, Acting Director, Office of Enrollment and Discipline at the United States Patent and Trademark Office

Kimberly C. Kelleher serves as Acting Deputy General Counsel for Enrollment and Discipline and Acting Director of the Office of Enrollment and Discipline at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In these capacities, she leads a team of attorneys and support staff in executing the Office’s multifaceted mission, including ensuring practitioners are of good moral character and act in compliance with applicable rules. Ms. Kelleher joined the Office in October 2012 as an Attorney Advisor, where she investigated practitioner misconduct grievances, evaluated applications, conducted moral character investigations for applicants seeking USPTO registration, and supported stakeholder outreach. Before joining the USPTO, she practiced intellectual property law at a general-practice firm in Washington, D.C., taught high school biology and research in New York, and conducted research as a neurobiology laboratory scientist. Chanel Lattimer-Tingan is an intellectual property attorney whose practice focuses on trademark and copyright prosecution, enforcement and litigation, and intellectual property transactional matters, including licensing. Currently, Chanel is IP Counsel at Major League Baseball, where she focuses on protecting the intellectual property of the 30 Clubs and MLB in the marketplace, at trademark offices worldwide, and with licensees. Before that, she was a Staff Attorney in the IP Group at Royer Cooper Cohen and Braunfeld and a freelance IP attorney. Chanel began her legal career as an IP associate at Cozen O’Connor, a top 100 law firm, where she also served as Co-Chair of the Associates’ Committee and a member of the Diversity Committee. Chanel earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.S. in Sport Management from the University of Tennessee, and her B.A., in Sociology from Princeton University. She currently lives in Philadelphia with her husband and three kids.

Benjamin E. Leace has over 30 years experience in intellectual property law and is a shareholder and co-leader of the IP Litigation Group at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. He has represented clients in a wide range of intellectual property areas, including litigation, licensing, opinions/counseling, and patent and trademark procurement. Benjamin focuses his practice in litigating intellectual property disputes in federal courts and before the Patent and Trademark Trial and Appeal Boards of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Noah M. Leibowitz is a Partner at Dechert LLP in New York. Leigha R. Santoro

Leigha R. Santoro is a partner at K & G Law, focusing her practice on trademark, copyright, and advertising matters, including prosecution, enforcement, and licensing. Kline School of Law at Drexel University, where she served as Staff Editor of the Drexel Law Review. After two judicial clerkships, she joined K & G Law in 2021. As of 2026, Leigha is also an adjunct professor teaching copyright law at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law.
