After the fall election, PICC was flooded with questions from parents and teachers across PA, asking whether it was safe to send their children to school and what schools could do to protect students.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1329 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ejc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2017\/08\/ICE-Out-of-Schools-Presentation-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"215\" height=\"161\" srcset=\"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ejc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2017\/08\/ICE-Out-of-Schools-Presentation-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ejc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2017\/08\/ICE-Out-of-Schools-Presentation-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ejc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2017\/08\/ICE-Out-of-Schools-Presentation-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ejc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2017\/08\/ICE-Out-of-Schools-Presentation-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ejc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2017\/08\/ICE-Out-of-Schools-Presentation-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/>Social Justice Lawyering Clinic Students Tessa Carson (\u201917), Emily Diaz (\u201918), and Ashley Rotchford (\u201918) created the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ejc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2017\/08\/Welcoming-Schools-Toolkit.pdf\">Welcoming Schools Toolkit<\/a>.<\/strong> Emily Diaz states, \u201cits purpose is to provide students, parents, and educators with the tools to advocate for schools that are committed to ensuring that all students\u2014regardless of their immigration status\u2014are welcome, safe, and protected in the school environment.\u201d The toolkit offers sample resolutions and policies that represent proactive steps that schools can take to keep children safe from immigration enforcement raids, protect students\u2019 privacy, and affirm a commitment to inclusiveness.
