{"id":1728,"date":"2019-02-20T10:00:52","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T15:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ejc\/?p=1728"},"modified":"2021-11-23T19:07:26","modified_gmt":"2021-11-23T19:07:26","slug":"students-help-create-resource-for-asylum-seekers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ejc\/2019\/02\/20\/students-help-create-resource-for-asylum-seekers\/","title":{"rendered":"Students Help Create Resource for Asylum Seekers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sheller Center collaborated with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wola.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.wola.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1550688796497000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHhsse6S3nQSwGj5YE6rmmV6-kLJA\">Washington Office of Latin America<\/a>\u00a0(WOLA) to release\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ejc\/atoc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/law.temple.edu\/ejc\/atoc\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1550688796497000&amp;usg=AFQjCNG285OyvGKDOA9yeXBDLxY6OHCFtA\">The Annotated Table of Contents Project<\/a>\u00a0this month.\u00a0 The project aims to assist immigration lawyers and applicants in preparing asylum cases by providing detailed and compelling information on country conditions in the Northern Triangle, tailored to specific elements of an asylum claim.\u00a0 Under the guidance of Dean Ramji-Nogales, Emily Alvarez (\u201921), Jeff Basch (\u201919), Ken Bergman (\u201919), Carla Cortavarria (\u201919), Layal Issa (\u201920), Pretty Martinez (\u201920), Peter Mazur (\u201818), Linh Nguyen (\u201919), Ashley Rotchford (\u201918), Sofia Sanchez Ordonez (\u201920), and Emily Welch (\u201919) collected and organized research in both English and Spanish that demonstrates government actors are unwilling and unable to protect individuals fearing persecution in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.\u00a0 Their research is broken into several modules that focus on information helpful to cases in which individuals fear persecution by private actors, in response to recent restrictions on those who qualify for asylum.\u00a0 The law students collaborated with Temple\u2019s Department of Spanish and Portuguese to obtain certified translations for Spanish language documents, and worked with numerous individuals and organizations for whose guidance and assistance we are deeply grateful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Sheller Center collaborated with the\u00a0Washington Office of Latin America\u00a0(WOLA) to release\u00a0The Annotated Table of Contents Project\u00a0this month.\u00a0 The project aims to assist immigration lawyers and applicants in preparing asylum cases by providing detailed and compelling information on country conditions in the Northern Triangle, tailored to specific elements of an asylum claim.\u00a0 Under the guidance &#8230;
