At its Annual Awards Reception last week, the Philadelphia Project on Occupational Safety and Health<\/a> (PhilaPOSH) presented\u00a0Prof. Jennifer Lee with its Crystal Eastman award for the Sheller Center’s work on behalf of \u201cthe most marginalized and vulnerable workers in Pennsylvania.\u201d PhilaPOSH \u00a0specifically noted the Center’s report<\/a>, \u201cShortchanged,\u201d which exposed wage theft in Pennsylvania and led to the enactment of a city ordinance creating remedies for wage theft.\u00a0Students in the Social Justice Lawyering Clinic<\/a>, Amanda Reed (\u201915), Andrea Saylor (\u201915), Maggie Spitzer (\u201915), Elyssa Geschwind (\u201914), and Solaris Power (\u201915), researched and wrote the report.\"jen-lee-philaposh-award\"<\/p>\n

The award is named after Crystal Eastman, an activist lawyer who co-founded\u00a0the American Civil Liberties Union and the Women\u2019s International League for Peace and Freedom \u2013 and whose many accomplishments included writing a report that led to the first workmen\u2019s compensation law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
