Jennifer Bretschneider

Assistant Dean for Students and Strategic Initiatives

Jennifer Bretschneider is an Associate Professor of Law and the Director of Experiential Programs. She is responsible for the external clinical programs and the Temple Summer Experience Curriculum (T-SPEC). She also teaches Ethics in Practice and Trial Advocacy and coaches Temple Law’s National Trial Team.

Prior to joining the Law School faculty, Profoessor Bretschneider was an Assistant District Attorney with the City of Philadelphia.  She was a prosecutor in the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit and then the Homicide Unit for almost a decade.  She has prosecuted countless high-profile violent crimes.  She co-administered the Elder Justice Project, collaborated with partner agencies to provide a comprehensive approach to serving the needs of victims of crime and was a participant in the Women’s Death Review. Professor Bretschneider was an Adjunct Professor at Temple from 2008-2011 and a Visiting Assistant Professor from 2011-2012.  She has conducted trainings at the Department of Human Services, presented at the Philadelphia Bar Association on the subject of enforcing violations of Protection From Abuse Orders and taught continuing legal education programs on elder abuse, domestic violence issues and trial advocacy.

Professor Bretschneider is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
