Why I Chose Temple: As an aspiring litigator, I chose Temple because of its nationally ranked trial advocacy program. Additionally, I knew as soon as I met the faculty and current students at an open house that it was the school for me. The community and support at Temple Law is truly like nothing else.

Fun Fact: I am currently serving as the president of the Family Law Society and as a Temple Law Ambassador! I am also a huge Los Angeles Chargers Fan!

Lily Austin LAW '20

Hometown: Springfield, PA (Delaware County)

Academic Interests: Employment/Labor Law

Undergraduate School: Swarthmore College

My Favorite Thing About Temple Law: Finding a community of people who are supportive and passionate about using the law to further the pursuit of justice.

Fun Fact: Customarily lazy when it comes to executing complicated Halloween costumes, a true Jim Halpert, 1L doctrinal material provided Lily with a perfect opportunity to participate in the custom of wearing costumes to class. Judge Learned Hand was an easy costume to create.

Hailing from outside of Philadelphia, Lily completed her undergrad degree at Swarthmore College and then spent two years before law school working in the farmworker unit of Legal Aid of North Carolina. She chose Temple Law because of its many experiential opportunities, dedicated faculty, and ties to social justice work in Philadelphia and beyond.

Ayana Bowman LAW '20

Hometown: Waldorf, MD

Academic Interests: Employment/Labor Law and Constitutional Law

Undergraduate School: Towson University

Ayana is 3L at Temple Law School and is a proud alumna of Towson University. At Towson, she earned a degree in Political Science with Minors in Spanish and International Relations. Ayana is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Temple International and Comparative Law Journal and is a Student Editor for the Temple 10-Q.

Chelsey Dawson LAW '20

Hometown: Media, Pennsylvania
Academic Interests: Torts, Criminal Law, and Civil Procedure
Undergraduate School: Furman University
Fun Fact: The first (and last) mountain Chelsey ever climbed was a Swiss Alp.
After going to college in the south, Chelsey returned to the Philadelphia area to attend Temple Law. She is a member of the Temple National Trial Team, and a Note/Comment Editor and Write-On Coordinator for Temple Law Review Volume 92.

Allison Goldberg LAW '21

Hometown: Yardley, Pennsylvania

Academic Interest: Health Law

Undergraduate School: New York University

Fun Fact: Allie loves matcha and worked in sales at a Matcha company in New York City before moving to Philadelphia for law school.

Allie chose Temple Law because it allowed her to move closer to her family and is her mother’s alma mater. At Temple, she is a Co-President of If/When/How and Vice President of the Health Law Society.

Chanelle Jones LAW '20

Fun FactChanelle is a “retired” drummer. Recently, she switched her drumsticks for boxing gloves and took up kickboxing.

Originally from Maryland, Chanelle went straight through to Temple Law after undergrad. At Temple, Chanelle is on the Editorial Board for Temple Law Review, a Law & Public Policy Scholar and Rubin-Presser Fellow, and the immediate past president of the Black Law Students’ Association.

James Mangiaracina LAW '20

Hometown: Yardley, Pennsylvania
Academic Interests: Criminal Law
Undergraduate School: Pennsylvania State University
Fun Fact: James has watched the entirety of The Office seven times.
At Temple Law, James was a staff editor for the Law Review, an ACE Program Counselor, and is a member of the Moot Court team.  He will graduate in May 2020 and will start work at a large Philadelphia law firm.

My Favorite Thing About Temple Law: The community and the reputation. Temple Law students and faculty strive to help everyone overcome and succeed. Professionals in the community recognize the education and experience of Temple Law students and graduates.

Fun Fact: Christina is an avid foodie. When she isn’t digging into a delicious dish, she’s
discovering new food-related books and podcasts or trying a new cooking class.

Christina graduated from Penn State with a degree in English literature. After graduating, she worked for two years at a civil defense firm. Christina chose Temple Law for its Trial Advocacy program and its location in the heart of Philly!

Kathryn Romo LAW '20

Hometown: Highland, California
Academic Interests: Critical Race Theory, Government Law
Undergraduate School: University of California Irvine
Fun Fact: Katie was a member of a hip hop dance crew for three years
Bio: Katie has been involved in multiple experiential programs including the Community Lawyering Clinic and the Systemic Justice Clinic, served as Co-President of the Student Public Interest Network during her second year, and spent the Fall semester of her third year in an exchange program in Madrid, Spain.

Kathryn Sears LAW '21

Hometown: Niskayuna, NY
Academic Interests: Litigation, Refugee Law
Undergraduate School: SUNY College at New Paltz
Fun Fact: Kate began her undergraduate education to become an Illustrator before choosing the legal path.
After half her life in South Dakota and then upstate New York, Kate chose Temple Law for all the opportunities the University and Philadelphia have to offer. She did the Summer in Rome program, a volunteer with the Name Change Project, and plays intramural sports with a team of Law students.

Reid M. Truett LAW '21

Hometown: Pittsgrove, New Jersey
Academic Interests: Military and National Security Law, Constitutional Law

Fun Fact: Reid never learned how to ride a bike, but he can recite the Bill of Rights verbatim.

Originally from South Jersey, Reid made the major move to South Philly to attend Temple Law, where he serves as President of the Federalist Society, Vice President of VetLaw, and a Lead Advocate with the School Discipline Advocacy Service (SDAS).

Cary Zhang LAW '21

Hometown: Doylestown, Pennsylvania

Academic Interests: Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Civil Rights
Fun Fact: Cary is a huge foodie and is currently on a quest to find the best hoagie in Philadelphia.

Originally from Doylestown, Cary attended undergrad in Pittsburgh, but came home to the Philly area to attend Temple Law. At Temple, Cary serves as President of the 2L Class, Lunar Banquet Chair of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, and Community Outreach Chair of the School Discipline Advocacy Service (SDAS). She is also a Law and Public Policy Scholar.
