The Sheller Center for Social Justice (CSJ)

The Sheller Center for Social Justice at Temple University Beasley School of Law, created in 2013 by a generous gift from Stephen and Sandra Sheller, is a hub for social justice inquiry and advocacy. The Center’s faculty, staff and affiliated faculty work with law students, the Law School’s other legal clinics and experiential programs, others at the University, community organizations, and external partners to seek justice for disadvantaged populations in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania.

Center for Public Health Law Research

Based at the Temple University Beasley School of Law, the Center for Public Health Law Research supports the widespread adoption of scientific tools and methods for mapping and evaluating the impact of law on health.

It works by developing and teaching public health law research and legal epidemiology methods (including legal mapping and policy surveillance); researching laws and policies that improve health, increase access to care, and create or remove barriers to health (e.g., laws or policies that create or remove inequity); and communicating and disseminating evidence to facilitate innovation. The Center celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2019.

The Institute for Law, Innovation & Technology (iLIT)

iLIT is committed to equity and innovation. As a collaborative hub, our mission drives us to ensure that the field of digital technology bridges existing divides, remedies the systemic under-representation of minorities and other marginalized peoples, and innovates in ways that clearly advance the broad, global, public interest.

We do this by designing and offering innovative educational opportunities that invite our students to think and act critically about the intersection between technology and society. We empower our students to build careers in technology that will shape a more just and equitable future.

Many of those career paths are currently fraught with disparate challenges that can only be dismantled through systemic initiatives and commitment to change. Other emerging career opportunities are only now taking shape because of the rapid pace of technological innovation. We seize upon these challenges and opportunities through strategic initiatives and direct, practical programs that place our students at the forefront of change.
