In our ongoing effort to keep readers apprised of developments in Temple\u2019s business law community, we wanted to share some recent news and an upcoming event of interest.<\/p>\n

Running of the ITS<\/em><\/p>\n

Eleanor W. Myers, Emeritus Faculty, and Course Director reports on the 1L\u2019s recent experience in the Introduction to Transactional Skills (ITS) course.<\/p>\n

11 faculty, 1 Associate Dean, 10 student TAs <\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A team from the IT department<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 35 practicing lawyers<\/em><\/p>\n

This is the lineup for running ITS, Temple Law\u2019s innovative, nationally recognized experiential opportunity for first-year students to put a restaurant deal together and help negotiate a solution when it falters. All 179 day students recently completed this 2-week intensive course designed to highlight client interviewing, counseling, and negotiating skills along with drafting exercises to give them an early opportunity to \u201cpractice law.\u201d Some student reactions: \u201cWe had a blast!\u201d \u201cOn the whole, the course was fantastic.\u201d \u201cI loved it.\u201d \u201cI actually felt like a lawyer for the first time.\u201d And from the practicing lawyers who judged their final negotiations: \u201cStudents were very professional.\u201d \u201cAre you sure they were only 1 Ls?\u201d \u201cUnbelievably careful and organized.\u201d \u201cVery impressive.\u201d<\/p>\n

ITS was conceived by Temple\u2019s business law faculty and designed by Professors David Hoffman, Edward Ellers, and Eleanor Myers. It utilizes a website specially designed by Temple\u2019s IT department under the leadership of Shyam Nair. A slightly modified version of the class is provided to the evening 1L students during the spring semester under the leadership of Associate Dean Rob Bartow.<\/p>\n

Compliance Center CLE<\/em><\/p>\n

The Law School has developed a new Center for Compliance and Ethics, which will host a CLE Program on Monday, November 9th at the Union League. The CLE will offer six credits total including one ethics credit.
